What is Chiropractic Care?
At Premier Chiropractic we believe it is very important that our practice members understand what it is that makes us different as chiropractors and what chiropractic can do for you and your family. We feel that it is our responsibility to do our best to educate our practice members into having an understanding of their own bodies amazing ability to be totally healthy and be the best you can possibly be!
As principled chiropractors we believe that the body has an inborn ability to be totally healthy as long as the body’s nervous system has no interference. We call this inherent or inborn genius, “The innate intelligence of the body”. Innate intelligence makes a baby’s heartbeat, digests food, eliminates waste, uses white blood cells to fight infections, and makes the baby cry when it wants attention. No one has to teach the infant any of these things.
The same applies for you and your body. Each day millions and millions of processes occur which you have no idea even take place. Think about it, you never have to “think” about letting your heart beat, breaking down food, or lungs breathing. It all just happens in perfect harmony. All of these actions that occur in us every second are all controlled by our nervous system. When functioning properly your nervous system will control all activities of your body in perfect balance!

What is a Subluxation?
When there is a subluxation or misalignment present in the bones of your spine your nerves are “choked” off and in turn life itself is choked off resulting in diminished function or sickness of parts of your body whether it be organs, glands, tissues, or cells of any and all kinds.
In simplest terms, a subluxation is when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of normal position and thus create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves. Spinal nerves are the nerves that come out from between each of the bones in your spine. This pressure or irritation on the nerves causes those nerves to malfunction and interfere with the communication from the brain to the body and the body to the brain.
How does this affect you and your loved ones? Your nervous system controls and coordinates ALL the functions of your body. When there are subluxations or misalignments in your spine interfering with these all too important nerves and the signals coming and going from them, parts of your body will not get the proper nerve messages and will not be able to function at 100% of their ability. In other words, some part(s) of your body will not be working properly.
It is the responsibility of the Doctor’s at Premier Chiropractic to locate subluxations, and reduce or correct them. This is done through a series of chiropractic adjustments specifically designed to correct the vertebral subluxations in your spine. Chiropractors are the only professionals who can locate these detrimental and life draining subluxations.
History Of Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic care has been around for centuries, but it has just been in the last 100 years or so that it has taken the world by storm by introducing a non-invasive, scientifically-proven, holistic, effective approach to healthcare. Since chiropractic began, it has been regularly advancing in methodology and continues to do so today. A Brief History of Chiropractic Care
The first individual to define a vertebral subluxation (or misalignment) was Dr. D.D. Palmer. He was also the first to diagnose an individual with a vertebral subluxation and he gave the first chiropractic adjustment in 1895. Dr. Palmer recognized the significant pressure on the nerves from the spinal misalignment, and he noticed an effect on the rest of the body’s functions from that nerve pressure. His son and daughter-in-law continued pursuing chiropractic over several more decades, which resulted in the founding of The Palmer School of Chiropractic, which has continued to increase research on the science of chiropractic and the overall whole-body and holistic approach to healthcare.

Since the inception of Palmer School of Chiropractic, additional chiropractic colleges have been founded all across the globe.
