Chiropractic care makes it’s most powerful impact on children. From the birth process onward, our spine and nervous system is subjected to a multitude of forces which can misalign (subluxate) vertebra and set the stage for reduced well being and future health problems. A recent study has shown that 95% of babies are born with not only misalignments in their spine but also some degree of cervical strain. Certification
Dr. Ericka is a member of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association and has completed numerous hours in specialized pediatric training. She is awaiting certification from the ICPA after completion of 2 research modules and a written exam which is currently being completed. She is the second doctor in the greater Nashville area to achieve this rigorous certification making her expertise significant. She is also certified in Webster’s technique, a technique specifically crafted for the needs of pregnant women. It focuses on the proper alignment of the pelvis which optimizes the room for the developing fetus and promotes an easier birth. Dr. Mike is actively working toward certification as well.

Safety and Effectiveness
Many envision that infants and children receive the same amplitude of an adjustment an adult would, which is false. The adjustments given to an infant spine are given with the same pressure it would take for your finger to break the skin on a ripe tomato. It is very gentle and very effective. “The Safety and Effectiveness of Pediatric Chiropractic: A Survey of Chiropractors and Parents in a Practice- Based Research Network” found chiropractic care for children is safe and effective. In their study they found that an adverse event is a .00055% of negative reaction, and further the negative reactions reported were minor discomfort following the adjustment each of which readily resolved.
Over 90% of the chiropractors and parents in the study found an adjustment-related improvement with respect to the children’s presenting complaints. Reports of better sleeping patterns, improved behavior and robust immune systems were made while under chiropractic care. The research for chiropractic and it’s effectiveness in children is continuously growing as it’s results are profound.
